CommCore Blog and News

Welcome our fall intern Eduardo!

CommCore welcomes Eduardo Umana our fall intern! Eduardo is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland College Park. Learn more about him in our blog.

Three words you would use to describe yourself…

Analytical, charismatic, and perseverant.

What are you most passionate about…

I am passionate about learning, media, and traveling. I enjoy learning across different fields such as business, health, and news trends so that I can become a very well-informed person across different areas. Since I was a little kid, I have always had a sense of curiosity about things, asking questions, and being a strong media consumer. My personal philosophy is “By learning, I achieve self-improvement.” Although I am a millennial, I am a big fan of traditional media (e.g., television, radio, and newspaper and/ or magazines). Currently, social media platforms have changed the media landscape, and drastically changed the profession of public relation. I discovered that I enjoy the research that goes into social media to achieve better communication by understanding how to do it in different platforms. Lastly, I like traveling because it gives me the opportunity to go to different places, see new things, and experience various lifestyles.

Why intern for CommCore…

One of the most appealing aspects was the opportunity to intern with a company that provides media training services, and of course, gives me the valuable experience I need in real life to further my career in the path I want — crisis communication and public relations. I am a Communication/Public relations student, and I strongly believe that communication has to be clear and concise. During my time here I look forward to having the opportunity to witness how CommCore prepares its clients to communicate with internal and external audiences.

What’s your favorite social media channel…

Without a doubt Facebook! This platform gives me the opportunity to stay in touch with family, friends, and up-to-date with what’s going on in the world. I use Facebook to engage with different content that enjoy (e.g., videos, pictures, and news). I find it interesting how Facebook has changed communication and transformed PR. Organizations are no longer just worried about being on the cover of a newspaper; they are concerned about their online reputation via social platforms like Facebook.

What do you hope to get involved with the most at CommCore…

I would like to get involved with  observering CommCore’s Presentation Skills and Crisis Communication trainings. Every professional needs to be able to speak in public and interact with the media. Finally, if time allows, get I would like to get involved in writing press releases and learning how to pitch prospect clients.
