Leading Crisis Communications Firm CommCore Presents at the 2019 CRUSH Life Sciences: The Board Meeting Conference

(Washington, DC, July 3, 2019)— “When a crisis happens, quick and effective response is critical for a company to protect and defend a public challenge to its reputation,” said CommCore SVP, Dale Weiss at the 2019 CRUSH Life Sciences: The Board Meeting Conference.

Weiss facilitated an interactive hands-on PressureTest™ crisis simulation for CRUSH Life Sciences conference attendees in Boston, where he also demonstrated the intricacies of crises and their spread through social media. He emphasized to the Life Sciences professionals in attendance that organizations need to make crisis communications management a top priority because a potential reputation-damaging issue is likely just around the corner.  “In the age of Social Media and citizen journalists, bad news travels at the speed of light. This can impact your organization’s brand and reputation,” Weiss said.

Weiss stressed that preparation begins with a robust crisis communications plan. When a crisis happens, quick and effective response is critical for a company to protect and defend a public challenge to its reputation.

To illustrate how a crisis goes viral, Weiss conducted CommCore’s signature PressureTest™ simulation as profiled in The New York Times. As part of the simulation, attendees worked in a compressed, real-time environment, responding to a series of cascading events stemming from an incident that went viral on social media. The drill demonstrated how quickly an incident can become a public event and how it can negatively impact the reputation of a company or organization with its employees, vendors, and other stakeholders.

“There is no shortcut for preparation,” said Weiss. “The best way for an organization to emerge from a crisis with its reputation intact is to plan, practice, and pursue a tactical approach to the inevitable crisis.”
