“The Moral of the Story is: Prepare, Prepare, Prepare.” -Andy Gilman, EE Voice Podcast

When it comes to corporate communications trends, the FIR Podcast Network is an excellent resource for PR, organizational communications, marketing, and internal communications content. Their EE Voice show explores the complexity and subtleties of internal communications, and its effects on employee engagement.

We’re proud to announce that CEO Andy Gilman was once again invited to appear on the podcast, this time to discuss important corporate communications trends that will likely impact the landscape for 2024.

January’s CommCore Observer kicked off the year with a discussion of similar communications trends, This podcast is another way to digest some of the most important topics that will impact all of us in 2024. Listen here:

Bottom line? Communicators need a seat at the table! A skilled communications department can bridge  the silos and break through echo chambers to improve morale, productivity and outcomes at large organizations and companies.

Interesting questions posed in this podcast:

  • Do Marketing and HR know what IT is doing? They should, given the current landscape of generative AI.
  • How will your organization respond to a cyberattack that compromises data, or a breach that exposes customer data? Given 2023’s new SEC cyberattack reporting rules, it’s especially important that employees understand the law in laymen’s terms so they can apply it as needed. • According to Gilman, “employee activism is in the water” and is something every organization needs to consider. Today’s generation of workers and students wants to know they can stand behind the values and mission of their company, organization, or University. When they perceive a breach, they will invariably say something. (See our previous issue of The Observer, “Upstander or Bystander,” for more context). CommCore teaches our clients that great leaders not only communicate and deliver messages, but also listen to the needs of their employees, outside counsel, and have some idea of how the social issues of the day can have an impact at their organization.
  • Employee concerns about safety in the workplace is based on real data. People are justifiably concerned about escalating violence and mass shootings at work, and security and law enforcement are the first line of defense. Communicators should work with first responders to handle messaging around these delicate situation, because families and social media will both be involved. CommCore drills our clients on communications crisis issues like active shooter events, sometimes with all-too-real outcomes. In the podcast, Andy talks about a client whose company was victimized by actual gun violence the same day they’d done a training with CommCore. No one was injured, and our client reports that he drill helped them respond. Read more about CommCore’s Crisis Communications simulations.
