How to Win Back Trust: CommCore SVP Andy McGowan Quoted in Sports Business Journal

CommCore SVP Andy McGowan was recently quoted in Sports Business Journal, Crisis experts evaluate future for scandal-ridden NWSL.

The National Women’s Soccer League resumed playing Wednesday after a difficult week. The league has been rocked by both sexual misconduct allegations – and the years it took for the abuse to come to light. Players, fans, and other stakeholders are now demanding accountability, not just apologies.

“The most important aspect of this is [the NWSL] must now execute on what they’ve laid out and win back the trust of the players first and then beyond that, the fans and the sponsors,” said CommCore’s Andy McGowan.

McGowan heads up CommCore’s Atlanta office, working closely with CEO Andrew Gilman. His past accomplishments include founding Watkins-McGowan Communications out of Atlanta Georgia, working as the director of global media relations and brand reputation for UPS, directed marketing and communications for Qualcomm’s Firethorn mobile division and numerous roles in sports. He was the VP of communications for the Washington Capitals and director of public relations for the National Hockey League as well as the Vice President of Communications for Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer.
