CommCore Summer Interns Q&A

We are excited to announce our interns for the 2022 summer semester. Join us in welcoming them to our talented team!

Welcome, Brooke!

Three words I would use to describe myself:

Driven, outgoing, and loyal

Why intern at CommCore?

I chose to intern at CommCore because I wanted to be a member of a team that was passionate about their work. At CommCore, every employee goes above and beyond for his/her clients, and it is evident that the staff enjoys their job thoroughly. Everyone on the team uplifts each other and assists them in whatever ways they can, and it is a motivating environment that I thrive working in.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about learning. Whether it is in the classroom, at work, or in everyday life, there is always something to be learned. I find myself learning the most when I am surrounded by diversity. Those who have lived different experiences than I have always opens my eyes to new perspectives. I hope to run my own PR firm one day, and I plan on surrounding myself with people that provide a diverse set of skills, beliefs, and backgrounds in order for all of us to learn from each other.

What is your favorite social media channel?

TikTok is my favorite social media channel, and I hate to admit that I find myself scrolling on the app for hours at a time on some days… The app never fails to make me laugh, to teach me something, or to simply provide me entertainment. I still argue that no social media platform will ever beat Vine, but TikTok has made the death of Vine a little more bearable.

What do you hope to get involved with at CommCore?

I hope to work with a variety of clients and obtain a range of different skills at CommCore. It has been difficult to get experience in the industry due to COVID, so I am extremely eager to learn the ins and outs of how the firm operates. I have already learned so much, and it is only my third day, and I am eager to see all of the knowledge that I am going to receive throughout this internship.

Welcome, Ella!

Three words to describe myself:

Hardworking, energetic, and curious

Why intern at CommCore?

I am thrilled to be an intern at CommCore this summer to gain an understanding of the behind-the-scenes counseling that goes into helping a company maintain its reputation and put its best foot forward. I was drawn to CommCore because of their expertise in media and presentation training along with their crisis communication counseling. After taking a class about global communications I was inspired to further my knowledge as communication is a critical skill for life and particularly the business world.

What are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about the global connections of the world. I love learning about how international events impact governments and commerce. I am fascinated by the historical impact of cultural interactions that shaped our world and continue today.

What is your favorite social media channel?

My favorite social media channel is Instagram because of its versatility for personal to professional use. I believe that Instagram’s consistent expansion over the past few years has grown the platform to appeal to many more users. Not only does Instagram provide for personal connections to friends and family but has opened doors for influencers and small businesses to promote and purchase from one platform.

What do you hope to get involved in at CommCore?

I hope to learn more about client’s concerns and the solutions CommCore presents to them. As I try to figure out my future career, I am eager to be exposed to a variety of CommCore’s competencies.

Welcome, Sydney!

I’m Sydney Panas, an undergraduate student from Florida State University, studying Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Political Science.

Three words I would use to describe myself:

Adaptable, straightforward, and fun

Why I intern at CommCore?

My interest was piqued from my initial impression of CommCore’s personable and professional nature. As a team, they work hands-on with their clients through workshops and I knew that this was the firm that would give me the experience I was looking for.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about being outdoors. There’s something so simple yet exciting about disconnecting from the world and going for a walk or hike. In fact, I’ve collected an assortment of plants that enable me to be outdoors even when I’m indoors. Having plants has also given me the responsibility to take care of something other than myself.

What is your favorite social media channel?

My favorite social media channel is Instagram. It can sometimes be a chore to scroll through my feed but I like to see what people are up to or where they’ve been. But I also really enjoy scrolling through Pinterest, though it may not be considered a social media channel. Pinterest shows what someone’s personality is like whereas Instagram shows what someone’s appearance is so they both go hand-in-hand.

What do you hope to get involved with at CommCore?

I hope to learn how to expand my network and knowledge of the field. I’m looking forward to creating a broader skill set and get a better understanding of the communication and research skills that go into working with professional communications. My hope is that I will come out of this opportunity with immense experience that will help me pursue my future in communications and public relations.

Welcome, Alexandra!

I’m Alexandra Elliott, an undergraduate student at Elon University, majoring in Strategic Communications and Media Analytics with a minor in Psychology.

Three words I would use to describe myself:

Outgoing, compassionate, and creative

Why intern at CommCore

I chose to intern at CommCore because of their variety of clients and reputation in the crisis management area. CommCore has expertise in a broad range of industries, I knew I would be able to learn as much as possible from the experienced consultants who work in each field. Further, between the immediacy of social media and the toxicity of cancel culture in our world today, I think that media training and crisis management are two essential aspects of communication skills that I would love to observe and later apply to my career after graduation.

What are you most passionate about?

I would say that I am most passionate about mental health awareness. I think that people should be able to openly discuss something that makes up a large part of who they are. There is a stigma that surrounds talking about mental health struggles and therapy that has slightly improved over time, but society has a long way to go. I am a firm believer in the idea that you never truly know what someone is going through, which is why I think it’s important to communicate about it, if you are comfortable.

What is your favorite social media channel?

My favorite social media channel is Instagram because it allows me to stay connected to my friends, even those I haven’t seen in a while, through pictures.

What do you hope to get involved with at CommCore?

I hope to build relationships with the team and consultants, and gain hands-on experience in the communications field, specifically with crisis communications. I would love to observe one of CommCore’s media or leadership training workshops to learn more. I also plan to work on my writing and research skills in a firm setting.
