10 Tips for Media Training Success with CommCore

Booked your media training with CommCore? Whether you’re attending one-on-one media training, virtual media training or one of our media training workshops in the classroom, here some key points to get the most out of your next media training session with CommCore:

  1. Prepare in advance for the media training session. Schedule a brief call with your trainer to discuss any key areas that you’d like to focus on. For bios of all of our Media Trainers, see our Media Training Services page.
  2. Know the key points you want your audience to remember. We can further refine them in the training.
  3. Have a list of questions you expect to be asked for Q&A practice.
  4. Write down any specific concerns you have about your media handling skills.
  5. Remain positive and open to learning new skills and tools to use.
  6. Be prepared with stories, anecdotes or relatable topics that you can utilize during your training.
  7. Identify who your audience will be or a list of different audiences you’ll be addressing.
  8. Share prior media interviews of yourself or others in your organization with the trainer if available.
  9. If you are required to wear uniform for your presentation or interview, bring it to the training for the on-camera practice. Example – lab coat.
  10. Relax

The biggest benefit of media training: a successful interview, good PR for your organization and additional opportunities for increased media exposure.
