Gregory Michaelidis is CommCore’s cybersecurity communications consultant. He is a former Department of Homeland Security advisor on cybersecurity issues in the Obama Administration. He works with CommCore’s senior crisis team to assess the communications preparedness of organizations for responding to cybersecurity attacks, data breaches, or other security incidents. He also provides crisis counsel and assistance on media and internal and external stakeholder communications.
At DHS Michaelidis most recently focused on cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and community resilience communications. He advised top DHS officials on communicating with the private sector and the American public about cybersecurity risks.
Michaelidis previously served as Director of Speechwriting at DHS. Before that he spent a decade developing policy campaigns at a major public research university, think tanks, and a public affairs firm. He is a Cybersecurity Initiative Fellow at New America, and a Truman National Security Fellow.
He holds BA and MA degrees from the University of Buffalo, SUNY and a PhD in history from the University of Maryland, College Park.
