Sticky
Message of the Month – Septmber 2010
"In
the relay race for justice you always need fresh legs, because
it's really hard work.”

What’s
a “Sticky Message?”
A “sticky message” is a statement that easily stands
out in a speech or is a key quote in a news article. It’s
the one the reporter instantly says: “That’s going to
make it in my piece.” It’s one that is easily
remembered by the reader, viewer or listener.
What made this month s sticky message?
A
quote from David Stern, Executive Director of Equal Justice Works,
in a New York Times article "Young Lawyers Turn to Public Service"
regarding the need for young lawyers committed to public service.

What made it sticky?
The
legal process takes a long time and requires team work and a variety
of coordinated tasks. The relay race and young legs analogy
is an excellent way to express the role of younger, less-experienced
lawyers who are recruited to learn and bring energy and enthusiasm
to public interest law.
